Balayage in Anaheim Hills
Balayage is painted on freehand rather than pulled through foils, which is why it grows out softly instead of leaving a hard line at the root. That is the practical reason most people ask for it: you can go three or four months between appointments without it looking like you have skipped one.
Where you land depends on your starting color and how much lift you are after. Hair that has never been colored behaves very differently from hair carrying old highlights or box dye, so the price and the number of sessions are not the same for everyone. We would rather tell you that up front than surprise you in the chair.
What to expect
- 1
We look before we quote
Your colorist checks your current color, condition and how much regrowth you have, then talks through what is realistically achievable in one visit.
- 2
Painting and processing
Color is painted where the light would naturally hit, then left to lift. This is the long part of the appointment and it is not something to rush.
- 3
Toning and finish
A toner or gloss sets the final shade and takes out any brassiness, then we wash, cut if you are having one, and style.
Common questions
How much does balayage cost?+
Balayage starts at $300. Longer or thicker hair takes more product and more time, and hair that needs extra lifting can run higher. Send us photos and we will give you a realistic range before you book.
How often do I need it redone?+
Most people come back every three to four months. Because there is no harsh regrowth line, you have more flexibility than with foils or all over color.
Can I get balayage over box dye?+
Often yes, but it changes the plan. Box color sits differently in the hair and can lift unevenly, so it may take more than one session to get where you want. Tell us about it beforehand rather than on the day.
Is balayage the same as highlights?+
No. Highlights are woven into foils for more contrast and coverage, balayage is painted on for a softer, more lived in result. Plenty of people combine the two.
